It began with her favorite love song playing at a bar. Their eyes met and it was an instant connection. Don't do it, she told herself. All men are nothing but trouble, she reminded herself. Suddenly, her phone rang, saving her from what could have been a disastrous evening like all the others. It was an unknown number. "Hello," she answered uncertainly. The caller's voice was deep and mysterious. "I see you," the stranger said breathing deeply into the phone. Suddenly, she was more aware of the bar. It was full of drunkards, bachelorettes, singers and regular folks tired after a day's work. The usual, but the stranger's short statement had put her on edge. "What's wrong, Grace?" her best friend asked. For a moment, she could not speak. Her breath was caught in her throat as she frantically searched the bar. For who exactly? Nobody knows. Angel waved her hands in front of her friend's frightened face while repeating the question. Grace still paid no attention. Then the voice over the phone spoke once more. "Don't be so frightened, babe. We'll see each other later" and with that, the call came to an end. Immediately, the phone fell to the ground with a shatter. "We need to leave. Now." Now, Angel was puzzled. What could have shaken her up so badly?
“It was him!” she screamed hysterically. Recognition suddenly shone brightly on Angel’s face. They ran to the car in a panic. Outside in the cold night air, the buildings became a blur. “I- I think some- someone dru-“ she began then collapsed onto the silver Lykan Hypersport. Angel’s face grew contorted, then like her friend, the lights suddenly went out.
“Hi Gracie". She awoke to the smell of a rose but saw none. There was a well laid table before her. The dishes were all covered, with the utensils to the side. The light overhead was a dim but deep red, giving the room an eerie glow. “Do you like our date? I took the liberty of dressing you myself. Do you like it?” he asked softly. She looked down and there it was. The rose. It was amongst an illustrious red dress, the kind of dress that you wear to a gala. She ran her hands along the diamond patterns and felt a familiarity in the style of the dress. It was her dress! Her dream dress! “Yes. I know. I saw you the other day admiring it,” he replied to her puzzled look.
Fear washed over her like an ice cold pale of water. She was not paranoid. There was someone watching her. Maybe she had dug too deep and now it was her turn. She screamed for help but all she heard was immediate silence. There was no light peering in from the other side. She was trapped. Her eyes swept the room carefully as she struggled to free herself from the shackles bound to her feet. He preyed on her like a lion ready to devour his meal. In a turn of events, she sat quietly and began to eat. He smiled at her compliance. “I knew you’d give in,” he said still smiling, missing the evil glint in her eyes.
For the rest of the day, she played his game hiding a trick up her sleeve. As they finished their meal, he held on to her waist firmly, pulling her close. “No one can take you away from me. I love you,” he whispered in hotly in her ear. “Well I am sorry,” she said as she struggled in his grip. “But I don’t love you, psycho,” with that, she jammed the fork into his neck and jumped back as he gagged, a raging fire burning in his eyes.“Morirá, perra,” he whispered as he collapsed onto the floor, no longer breathing. As he breathed his last breath, a door appeared to the side. Puzzled but relieved, she opened it to a bright white light.
Then she awoke.
